While perousing the Cubunes website regarding an article about the Bleacher fans at Wrigley giving Rob Mackowiak a hard time this weekend, I noticed a link off the article to check out some of the Tribune's "classic sports photography"

Curious, I clicked on the link and I found this "gem". Look at the captions under the two photos.

Everything is rosey at Wrigley....it's all sunshine, halter tops, HR's, beer and sailboats on the north side.

But it must be unsafe to go to the southside, look at all those Cops and Security Guards surrounding Comiskey's field.

You would think that the Cubune would try and cut back on this crap. I mean, we all know that employees of the Cubune reguarly check out this site. They have complained numerous times about WSI members using their "Copywritten" pictures.

I know that they have seen the "You Write the Cubune Headline" thread.

I would assume that they would know that continuing to have a bias would be bad for business. But they continue to do it. It's just sad at this point.

As an aside, whatever happened to that website that some members of WSI were going to start?? I think that it was going to be called, www.cubune.com or something.

Is it up and running?? Is that the addy??

This will continue at least until every one of the greedy bastards employed by Tribune Co. can squeeze every last nickel out of the Cubs organization and its possible positive effect on the stock in their retirement accounts.

Many of those sportswriters, headline writers and other assorted stooges were forced to some degree to invest their retirement savings in Tribune stock and enjoyed a nice ride up on the coattails of grandfathered local media monopolies and other shrewd moves. With the advent of the Internet, craigslist and other factors eroding the core newspaper business, they've now taken the roller coaster ride back down -- along with the moron Tribune execs responsible for genius moves like the Times-Mirror purchase (and the assumption of a $1 BILLION tax bill). So now they've all redoubled their Cubune efforts to claw back whatever meager gains they can before Zell blows up their Chicago marketing machine.

It's called looking out for No. 1. Even though it smells like No. 2.
