But the White Sox support system also deserves a tip of the cap for its role in making Harrelson a finalist for the Frick Award. Harrelson was one of three broadcasters picked from an on-line fan ballot, with the Chicago fan base once again making the city proud with its ability to get out the vote.
Of that group I would have to consider Tom Cheek of the Blue Jays who passed away last year or Bill King of Oakland who died after the 2005 season.

MERCY!!!

Congrats Hawk, you may be one of the most biased announcers in the game, but that's why we love you!!

If I'm not mistaken, his passion for the Sox shouldn't work against him, but for him in this particular contest. He's a homer alright, but that doesn't make him a bad announcer. I love listening to all the stories he has as an ex-player.

Dizzy Dean (who was elected to the HOF over 50 years ago) was a very well-known broadcaster back in the day. I have no idea whether he was any good, but it won't surprise me if he's elected.

Default I love Hawk, but

Break out the Rye Bread and Mustard - it's grand salami time!

I think that Dave Niehaus is on the same level if not beyond Hawk. Hawk deserves to be there and will be there - but most everyone on this list deserves to be there.
