Default Thomas vs. Thome

Has anybody noticed that Big Hurt's numbers aren't that far off of Thome's? Not saying that maybe we would have been better off keeping Big Frank and Rowand, but its amazing that he's been able to get as close as he has.

Thomas is making an impressive run.

But as you suggest, I don't regret the move. Thome was incredible for us in the 1st half. He's slowed up in the 2nd half, but he's not terrible. If we instead had Thomas hitting .190 during the 1st half, we would have fewer wins at this point.

Not to mention that Thome provides a left handed bat in the line-up, which has helpd Dye, Konerko, etc. I seriously doubt we'd have more wins with Thomas.

However, if Thomas could have been converted to a statring pitcher, then .......

that's the worst teal I've ever seen.

The thing about the Thomas Thome thing is that Thome was hot when we needed hitting. Now we don't need his bat as much with Dye on fire. If we traded seasons (because there's no sure thing Thomas would have been bad here in the first half or Thome would have been good there or whatever), we might have found ourselves in a pretty big hole.

That said, I'm ecstatic Frank is proving the naysayers (me included) wrong by having a pretty damned solid season!

Best wishes to Frank except when he plays us. But I don't regret the move.

Frank will always be my favorite player, but Thome's done some phenominal things for us this season.

Thomas hit .190 in April, not the first half.

If we would've kept Thomas, PK wouldn't have resigned.

PK was very clear that trading for Thome was the absolute best thing the Sox did to get him to re-sign.

I, also, believe this to be true.

In fact he did , over his press conference held over mlb.com when he resigned, Thome even tried to contact PK after he was traded to the white sox, to try and get him to resign.

Thomas was a huge gamble, the Sox made the right move, he's too injury prone.

Konerko re-signed, not resigned. Had Konerko resigned, he wouldn't be playing baseball any longer.
