Sometime or another, you would expect Detroit to improve with all the signings they make each off-season. Kenny Rogers and now Todd Jones. It will be interesting to see how long Leyland sticks it out this time around.

Did they officially ink Rogers or are they just in discussions with him?

They have a ton of money in old closers, Percival and Jones. And they still won't be that good.

Do you have a link to the Rogers signing? Haven't seen that mentioned anywhere. That actually will help that team as starting pitching was thier weak point. Rogers, dispite being a nutcase, is still a fairly good pitcher.

They also have a ton of money in Magglio's "zombie knee" that continues to move around even though it seems to have died a few years ago.

This just further proves that spending big money doesn't necessarily guarantee much for a team.

With all the promising young arms they have/have had (German, Rodney, Dingman, etc.) they keep having to sign aging relivers to big contracts. In the last 2 or 3 years they've thrown money at Jason Johnson, Troy Percival, and Urbina to little or no success. Urbina was traded, Percival sat out with injury, and Johnson lost like 15 games. They had better hope Jones has more left in his tank.
