Default ESPN: Twins' Hunter believes he might be traded

Linky

Quote:
Hunter's 2006 salary of $10.75 million would be the highest single-season in Twins history. The Twins have a $12 million option on him for the 2007 season, or could buy him out for $2 million.
Almost $11 mil. for a guy with good D but a .267 career AVE, unremarkable walk totals, and 20-something HR power? I'd want to trade his ass too.

There won't be many (if any) takers. I can see the Yankees taking a chance since they have no Centerfielder (unless they sign Damon during the offseason). I don't see the Cubs or Red Cubs (if they lose Damon) taking on that salary. That leaves Anaheim as the only other possibility considering the amount of salary.

Here is your Chicago White Sox OF for 2006:

Dye $5 mil
Rowand $3.25 mil
Podsednik $1.90 mil

Total $9.15 mil

Our offseason money will be spent on the infield and locking up Garland and the relievers.

How stupid is he, in July he said their only focus was on the Wildcard because there was no chance they could catch us, and it sounded like he given up on us. I don't think we'll be caught, but players should know anything is possible, that sounds real good when you say your team can't do something.

If the Media doesnt help the Cubs get Johnny Damon, then look for Torri Hunter to be in a cub uniform, traded for Matt Murton

That would actually be a very good trade for the Cubs to get him. He brings almost everything they need, defense, speed and exciting baserunning (one of the stupidest things I've heard from ESPN). You figure the Yankees and Red Sox will go toe-to-toe for Damon. We only would have to worry about him for 2 series and that Cub uniform would have an effect on him. Beaning permitted.

My question is why is this a story now? Which media troll said "Hey, let's go see what Torii is up to!"

He is a bad hitter, he is very good but overrated defensively. Who in their right mind would pay $10.75mil for a career .267 hitter? Hunter blows. I hope he rots in Minnesota and I hope his insane salary hampers them for the next few years.

edit:Oh, yeah. There wsa already a thread on this:

Torii Hunter is as good a Cub as you can get. The Chicago Media will first wait to get Johnny Damon, and see if the Red Sox resign him. If the Media arent able to persuade him to come here, look for the Media to tamper big time with Torii Hunter til a trade happens. The whole story this winter will be:

1: The Bears
2: Notre Dame
3: Who should the cubs get this year
4: Cubs getting Torii Hunter & Johnny Damon
5: Sox world series championship
