Brian Flores, LHP New Mexico Junior College

NM JC won the 2005 Junior College World Series this year. Flores won both of his starts, was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Pitcher. 22nd round pick of the White Sox in 2004.

Flores assembled a 10-1, 2.28 record this year with 123 strikeouts in 79 innings. He showed better command of a three-pitch assortment that included a 92 mph fastball and a solid 12-to-6 curveball.

I am disapointed with day 2 of the draft. It seems like we have taken too many high school kids. I read about danks in BA and I like the pick even though it will be a stretch to sign him. Who knows, maybe we will throw some money at him saying that we didn't have a 2nd round pick, but I doubt it.

A bit off topic, but I continue to be amazed at the speed MLB rips though these picks. Thanks to fungo, we can see that it takes maybe 9 - 11 minutes to zip through a round of all 30 MLB teams. WOW!
