Looks like they are zeroing in on two local guys for their first round pick. Tulane LHP Brian Bogusevic (De La Salle) and Miami RHP Cesar Carillo (Mt. Carmel). USC catcher Jeff Clement is also a possibility. It says they have narrowed their choice to five or six players. |

I'll take Clement. A catcher would be nice.

I'll be honest, with our track record I hope we don't draft another catcher in the high rounds. I say lock up AJ long term and be done with it. I hope they concentrate on getting some right handed arms, we seem to be set with left handers.

I'm not an expert, but FWIW strategy-wise I'd go for the best available player in the first two or three rounds regardless of position, then start drafting pitchers.

But though FRATER laughed openly, he wept secretly; and really he neither laughed nor wept. Nor did he mean what he said. |

How could we land Carillo anyway? Isn't the guy a guaranteed top 10 pick?
The only way I could see it is if he prices himself out of the first 14 picks and then we decide that not having a second round pick gives us the added financial flexibility to sign a higher priced guy. |
