Default My email reply from the Hall of Fame

I sent a message to the Veterans Committee commenting on the strict standards that they've set on inducting players. This is what I got back:

We thank you for your kind comments regarding the 2005 Veterans Committee elections. Earning election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is the highest baseball honor imaginable. Now that we have been through the process twice, we believe the process works by upholding high standards for earning election and meeting the other criteria we established -- a more open, more inclusive, and more understandable process. It is extremely difficult to earn election, as only 1 percent of those to have worn a major league uniform -- one in 100 - have a plaque in Cooperstown.

I agree, they should continue to have high standards...

Which is why Joe Jackson and his lifetime .356 average belongs there.

I should have saved the text, but I didn't. It was in a form, so of course I didn't get a copy.

My comment was something to the extent of, "Thank you for not bowing to outside pressures to enshrine undeserving players and keeping the Hall of Fame reserved for baseball's elite". I was a bit more eloquent than that, but you get the general idea....
