Heard on xm mlb a twin fan saying they have the best pitching staff in the majors and that the "Whities" will not challenge. Never heard us referred to as the "Whities" before. Where is Jesse Jackson when you need him?

That's an idiotic nickname; no thanks.
It sounds like a limp-wristed attempt to nickname a team that doesn't need one--as if we would have something so lame, like the North siders referring to their team as the "Cubbies." Bleck. |

I think it's because we call them the Twinkies.

What a stupid name.
Although it would be slightly amusing to see a bunch of corn-fed minnesotans using "Kill Whitey" as their rallying call...

A die hard Cubs Fan at work today told me
He thinks the cubs are going to suck this year, he was being honest about it. says losing sosa n alou and 200 rbis is tough to stomache. even admittted the starting staff is over rated. |

A very popular Minneapolis Star Tribune sportswriter, Patrick Reusse (pronounced roy-see) always calls the Sox "the whities." He's a real laid-back, laconic kind of guy, and when you hear him say it you realize that it just fits with his personality. I suspect a lot of Twins fans picked it up from him.
