Yesterday, I was invited to about 4 Super Bowl parties and tried my
best to make all of them. One of the last parties I attended, I walked in and was immediately startled by 3 guys at the party, all wearing cub caps. I snickered to myself, and they immediately noticed my Sox jacket. I mingled a bit and after awhile, found myself on the couch watching the pregame with the cub fans. While I was mesmerized watching the commercialization and commercials, I overheard one of the flubby fans lamenting the fact the fact they didnt sign Magglio Ordonez. " Man ....he was ours, we couldve signed a 1 yr deal" "No way, he wanted 2 yrs, and Hendry wasnt going to do it" "We shouldve just paid him, the guy practically wanted to be a cub" Hangar: What makes you think he wanted to be a cub? CubSheep1: What are you talking about ...... he told everyone he wanted to be a cub Hangar: No he didnt, he got burned wanting more money, and nobody in baseball was willing to take a chance on him CubSheep2: Cmon Sox Fan, even you know he wanted to sign with us Hangar: Why do you guys keep thinking this was all about the cubs? CubSheep1: The history, the tradition, the fans. At least we come to our games ..... CubSheep2: .......I think he wanted to come to a team with a chance. CubSheep1: If you didnt have such a cheap B*****d owner, you wouldnt be mad about losing him. Hangar: Dont get me wrong, Im still mad this turned out so ridiculous. Our owner is Cheap. But what were the SOX supposed to do about Magglio? I personally dont think they were serious about signing him. This offseason, they were hell bent on cutting payroll and 2 of those guys were gonna get "traded", and Magglio getting hurt only guaranteed him being one of them. Otherwise, Konkerko would be gone. Or they wouldve Dumped Buehrle. But for having to Cut Payroll, we weakened ourselves offensively, but this team is much more well-rounded now than ever. CubSheep2: Hmmmmmmmmm. Yeah ........ your right CubSheep1: WHeres Carlos Lee? hahahahahaha Hangar: (speechless for a second) well, apparently we have Posednik. CubSheep2: Did you see what he hit last year? CubSheep1: They traded Carlos Lee for Posednik hhahahahaha Hangar: Yeah, sure we gave our players away for Nothing, but Now he gets to Whip on the cubs all year now ...hahahaha This was one of the very very very few times I really had nothing to say to the little blue sheep-like fans. They brought up a point and I was able to mildly reply. Also, Ive notice the Blue Sheep Fans arent as hell-bent on the WOrld Series anymore. Us 3 discussing the 2 teams seemed like 2 guys that arent really expecting much ............ weird.

When will you learn it's almost a lost cause talking intelligent baseball with most Cub-lusional fans?

Whenever I hear "History, Tradition" involved with someone talking about the Cubs, I walk away. Becuase I realize that they are bandwagon Cub fans which are the worst Cubs fans of them all.

Why is it so hard for non Sox fans to comprehend the idea that Carlos just wasn't getting it done for us? We had 6 Carlos type players and where did that get us?? I am not saying this was a perfect trade but I am waiting to see what Scott does for us before I start complaining. It's funny how with Cub fans, after Carlos was traded he became our MVP but if you had asked them last year what they thought of him you'd get is a bunch of responses about his bad defense (which isn't even true!) Idiots... all of them. |

#1 and #2 hitters, a guy like Carlos Lee, who is really a CONTACT HITTER is extremely dangerous. Look at what he was like in 2000, just going the other way with power, and able to give you RBI's galore ..... different from your typical 3,4,5 hitters. The guy was special, but then we started batting him out of order, out of position, asking him to be a "cleanup" guy when thats not what he is. When Caballo is at the plate, and he knows he will go the Other way with the pitch .....your gonna win a ton of ballgames. |

Hangar why didn't you explain to the Cubs fans that by trading Lee, they brought in Pods, Vizcaino, Travis Hinton, Iguchi, Hernandez, and Pierzynski whereas the Cubs brought in two minor leaguers, Jerry Hairston Jr. and Jeromy Burnitz for Sosa?

Moves WITHOUT having to part with Carlos Lee. The SOX get burned so many times over when they start making moves based on $$$$$$$, Im shuddering thinking what will happen if Pods, Dye, Vizcaino, Hernandez ALL dont have Superb seasons ......... (koch for foulke, snopek for ventura, MJackson for Flash Gordon) |

Hangar, if you honestly didn't have a clue how to rip apart those Cubs fans... and then come HERE to whine about it... there is no hope for you. I strongly urge you to completely steer clear of every Cubs fan for the rest of the season.
Just tuck your tail between your legs and run in the other direction. I'm embarrassed for you. Flubs fans have NEVER been richer targets than they are right now after their disastrous 2004 season. And Hangar stands there like a ****ing gelding? Gimme a break... |

Hangar. outwitted by cub fans....
I really feel for you. Baseball is a long season. I know that sometimes in the real world we bump into Cub Fans. I have something that might help you for the next time.
