Full Page Ad in ST??

If you've nto seen it already, there's a FULL PAGE "THANK YOU" ad from So-So for the 13 years he spent in Chicago. I saw it and laughed. How much more positive spin can the Cubs possibly put on this nightmare? They are so afraid to really tell it like it was, it's sick. 4 pages dedicated to the Juicer.....

I don't read the Trib, but I expect the same thing there. I checked already, could not find a link, sorry.

I get the Trib and mr. sincere took out a one page ad. It says the same thing;"thang for de grea thirtee year" "Cub fan are de great fan". On a side note has anyone ever noticed when he "played" right field he wore out a spot in the grass? Talk about great defensive adjustments. I guess he never looked into the dugout for instructions on where to play a certain guy.

Right next to his "Thank You" ad is a "Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya" ad, courtesy of all flip flopping cub fans who once worshipped the guy, but now blame for all of their problems.

Look, I hate Sosa as much as anyone, but I don't think you should slam him for this. It seems like a decent gesture to me and I wish him luck in Baltimore.

Doesn't sound like you hate the cheater to me. I wish him no luck because he's a bad person. But he will be in big trouble when the O's are struggling and the competent Baltimore fans turn on him. Prediction: Lee Mazilli will hate him in a month.

It would be a decent gesture if anyone could actually believe it is sincere. It's that syrupy crap that really made me hate the guy. He created a warm and fuzzy character and played that role whenever he was in the public eye. When he was off camera that character disappeared and the real Sam Me came out.

My honest opinion - Sosa and the Cubs agreed to publish that ad. Make him look like the "big guy", and the Cubs publicly praise him post-trade. All Hendy and Baker have done publicly in the last few days is kiss up to the GOOD side of the trade, etc...what looks like a duck, walks like a duck...

If memory serves me correctly, Sammy became the bad guy when Dusty showed up! A battle of 2 gigantic egos with the manager winning out. Many leaks from the cub-house. Dusty has basically tore the stars off his team. Now it's HIS team! The cub followers will feel the same as San Francisco followers in due time. As a Sox fan, I'm glad he broke them up. Takes the pressure off discussions with Cub fans!!
As far as egos go, almost all stars have them. Good teams tolerate them and win. Look no further than the left side of the yankee infield.
