Well he's had some good success in the minors since breaking into the Dominican Summer League at age 17 then moving on to Rookie Ball and A ball the following year. Like Phildo said, he's been used almost exclusively as a reliever.
2002 (Dominican) 10- 2, 64.2 iP, 37 H, 23 BB, 89 K, 1.95 ERA 2003 (Bristol) 6- 2, 47.0 IP, 29 H, 19 BB, 59 K, 1.72 ERA 2003 (Kannapolis) 0- 2, 11 IP, 8 H, 5 BB, 16 K, 3.27 ERA 2004 (Kannapolis) 4- 0, 51 IP, 44 H, 23 BB, 44 K, 3.00 ERA 2004 (Winston-Salem) 1- 1, 7.2 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 9 K, 2.35 ERA I don't know exactly what this kid throws, but most reports talk of him having a decent fastball in the high 80's/low 90's complemented with a good curve a a developing sinker. Sounds kind of like a Munoz clone.... |
