Does anybody here that has seen him pitch in AFL think that his bad performances are a result of being overworked? Between his minor league and AFL stints, and his September with the Sox, how many games will he have pitched in this year?

If you could fix it, it would be greatly appreciated. |

53 1/3 combined innings in the minors. 8 2/3 for the Sox. 5 for the Solar Sox.
For a grand total of 67 innings. Can you say not overworked? And can you say...minor league stud, major league bust? |

I'd say more like he is being underworked at the present time. He has only made 4 or 5 appearances in the AFL and his appearances in Sept. for the Sox were very sporadic. Hard to find a rhythm that way.
Basically he has has one rough outing and given up a couple of solo HR's. Those are the kind of things that temporarily inflate stats for relievers that usually even out over the course of the season. I doubt there will be enough opportunities in the AFL for his numbers to look impressive. Working on things and preparing one's self for Spring Training is the more important thing right now. |

And Randar, nothing wrong with being premature. Personally, I just was asking a question...not stating a fact or conception. |

I know that the appearances and IP aren't necessarily high, but over the course of 7 or 8 months, pitchers can end up throwing a lot of side sessions, too. I'm just wondering if another 7 or so weeks of work in the AFL might be pushing it.
As long as he's ready for Spring Training, I'm fine with whatever plans Kenny has. I just want them to give this guy a serious look next spring. |
