7 IP, 9 K's, 4 H's, 2 BB's, 1 ER (HR), and a WP. box Score to come, but he went deep into the count with a few more hitters thhan I'm used to, but only a couple guys made anything more than "decent" contact off him. Another strong outing.

Not to nitpick, but his walks seem to be up a bit since getting to AA ball. In High A, he didn't walk anyone, period, but now it seems he's walking guys with a little more regularity. I don't think this is really a concern, but it's something that we need to keep track of. His amazing stat at High A was the 60/3 ratio.
But overall this was just another in the line of excellent performances by Brandon McCarthy. 9 K's in 7 innings with only one earned. I don't have any problems at all with that.

I just love reading this guy's box score lines.
7 4 1 1 2 9 is tremendous. If he's giving up more walks, he also seems to be giving up fewer hits. I'll take that trade. From the same game: Meaux is back in relief, where he belongs. He struck out the side in the eighth. Spidale left the game after being HBP. Hope he's OK. |
