Gio with an interesting start

The 6 hits and 2 ER was decent, but the real impressive stat was 11 Ks in only 5 1/3 innings.

In other news, Demetrius Banks joined Gio at Kanny and (apparently) has K'ed all 5 batters he faced so far.

Yep, and Jay Marshall was promoted to Great Falls to take his place. Marshall is an interesting guy. Thows strikes and commands at least 2 pitches well, but he only throws in the mid-80's... Saw him pitch in Bristol and didn't jump out at me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Gio's presence at Kanny the most impressive stat of all? To put it into perspective, it looks as if he'll be considered for W-S next season. I know Sweeney's success at that level may have spoiled us, but high schoolers generally don't begine their first full seasons at hi A. It's almost as if Gio is being moved like a college pitcher. I'll be interested in seeing what his ETA to the majors is. He could break in at 21 or something.

Interesting. IIRC, Marshall was starting for Bristol. Will he bump somebody out of the GF rotation or will they use him out of the pen? Who takes his place in the Bristol rotation?
