Touring the Sox minor-league affiliates

I was planning to go to North Carolina in August to see the Charlotte, Kannapolis and Winston-Salem teams. I've decided to go to Minneapolis in September instead, but I'd still like to make that trip next year.

Some questions:

1. What's the best time to go? The promotion of Brian Anderson to AA Birmingham, for instance, makes me a little less interested in seeing W-S. I guess it could work the other way, too, with a known prospect moving from AA to AAA in season.

2. Places to go or avoid in Charlotte, Kannapolis or Winston-Salem?

3. Any recommendations about the parks?

I'm on that tour right now, when I get back I'll be writing up a story and I'll shoot ya a pm as well recommending some stuff and what not. Its a lot of fun and if you were here this year, you'd wnat to see WS, they got tons of good prospects.

Hi,

I hope you'll get to take your NC baseball tour this year. It looks like (perhaps) the Sox will not be back in the same parks here in NC next year. I know that Charlotte is very unhappy with the Sox affiliation as well as Winston-Salem. Whether or not the contracts will be extended, we'll know in the next few months.

Why would Winston-Salem not be happy after winning a championship last year and having a team in first loaded with prospects this year?

I know Charlotte is considering a change, but they may find there is not a better dance partner out there.

Look at the Sox track record in Winston overall. One winning team since 1997. Also, many fans in the area are simply not White Sox fans.

I suspect they will return here but there are several other teams who have expressed a desire to field a team here. It could be interesting.
