Olivo will join the Mariners and serve as a backup to Dan Wilson, who is in the final year of a two-year contract.

Guaranteed 10-time all-star Miguel Olivo can't even beat out Dan Wilson? Don't the Mariners know they are getting a 5-tool player. And the next Ted Williams can't even crack the starting lineup of the worst offensive team in the American League?

Like me and others on this board, I love Olivo and wished he didn't have to go but he's NOT Ivan Rodriguez, Johnny Bench or Roy Campanella. He's a solid catcher who's going to be an all-star one day.

Our offense isn't going to suffer because Olivo is not there. And people are forgetting that Maggs is coming back next week.

I'd rather see Olivo back. Olivio might be a low-A player, for all we know.

Nothing is guaranteed! Olivo worked a lot with Greg Walker to improve his hitting. Now without Greg there, will Miguel be able to keep it up especially with limited playing time? I'm sure once they see Miguel's defensive skills, they will be starting him more and more over Dan Wilson.

And you think Jeremy Reed is the next Ted Williams? I really don't think so! He might turn out to be a good one but time will only tell. Anyone remember Jeff Abbott who was also a minor league star? Where is he now?

Jeff Abbott, Mckay Christiensen, and Brian Simmons. All time 90s Sox Prospects outfield!

I still say that if Simmons doesn't rip his hand in spring training (sliding, was it?) he was going to do something useful. Man I liked that kid.

My comments were sarcastic! They were meant to point out that maybe, just maybe, the Mariners know more about judging major league talent than some posters on here who seem to think we "gave away the future."
