before being traded to seattle ben davis was a good catcher with the padres. makes me think that they drafted the catchers they did as high as they did for a reason. hmmmm

I agree completely. Bad, bad trade. I absolutely hate seeing Olivo and Reed go but it would be a little easier to stomach for a top line starter instead of for a guy who has more ups and downs than a yo-yo.

Not really. His best line ever with SD was .239/.337/.357.

How can you not like this guy?

I don't like him now because he just gave away the Sox starting catcher for the next ten years, and he gave away the Sox future left fielder and #2 hitter. Just for an over-rated pitcher (who pitches better in the massive pitcher-friendly Safeco Field) who is only guaranteed to be with the Sox through this season.

I understand that the Sox have a bunch of OF propsects (Anderson, LTP, Sweeney, etc.), but they have almost ZERO in terms of catching.

I am in shock. Certainly Kenny can't be this bad. I understand wanting to "go for the jugular," but this is just plain stupid.

I don't even care about beating the Cubs 2 out of 3 anymore. This has totally ruined my day.

Well we paid a steep price. An absolute top prospect and a major league catcher, who's improving. I assume Davis can play a Mark Johnson level of catcher.

im so sad to see olivo go. from what i witnessed at spring training he was one of the sweetest guys in the dugout. everyone liked him and everyone around him was laughing. i'll give this a shot, but i'm really nervous.
