Get a load of this "letter to the editor" from Friday's Sun Times...
Let the real fans in It's time for all of the fake Cub fans to get out of the ballpark and go to the bars. It's a shame that real Cub fans can't get tickets because of all the people who attend the game because . . . well, because it's just the thing to do. I read ''Tourism hits one out of the park'' [sports story, June 10] about the tourists who couldn't get tickets. One said that she never watches the game, anyway; she'd rather be outside chatting. Well, that's her and thousands of others at the game. People look at me funny when I go to the game because I'm actually watching the game. To all those yuppies who go to the game because you think it's cool, please do all the Cub fans a favor: Go to the bars. Edwin Boksa, West Town Well...I'll give this guy some credit. He's been saying what many "real Cubs fans" have been saying for years...and what we've been saying here at WSI since it's inception. As if we really needed confirmation...

Ten bucks says this guy is another yuppie who's mad that he couldn't pay his Jetta payments and get Cub tickets at the same time when they went on sale.

Hey, good for him. I know a few other long-time Cub fans who feel that way, including one friend who won't go to the ballpark even if she can get tickets. She hates the party atmosphere and the fake 'fans' that much. We shouldn't be bashing people who agree with us.

Unfortunately, those are not the people who typically fill up Wrigley these days. |

Does anyone remember an article that ran in the Scum Times a few weeks back about the popularity of the Urinal Shrine?? It spoke of how tourists come to Chicago every year to see the "lovable losers".The one quote i'll never forget was from a female yuppie who proclaimed:
"Who has time to watch the game? We're too busy chit chatting". No Sox fan I know of,male or female, would ever spout such nonsense. As a weekend season ticket holder,I can state the belief my partner and I have with no fear: "Sit down, shut up,get off the phone and watch the game!!"
