The "also-ran" according to some posters, who has given "very little reason to support the claim that he's a stud" is spinning a gem through 6 in anaheim. . .

PERFECT GAME THROUGH 6. . .against one of the better hitting lineups in baseball.

Anyone who still wouldn't want to have him?

"Also ran" may not be a fair characterization of how some posters feel. He's just not as desirable as Garcia & CC, that's all.

He is and has been my 1st choice of those talked about. Thanks for the heads up, I just turned on the game.

However, if he does throw a perfect game, does that decrease the chance of acquiring him?

I dunno...given the choice of Helen of Troy, Aphrodite, and Jennifer Aniston, Aniston's the "also ran", but still much better than nothing at all.

Aniston : nothing at all :: Ben Sheets : our current, non-existent 5th starter.

With all due respect I beg to differ, and not just because he is pitching well tonight. I like Garcia, but Sheets presents the best long term option of those three. Without a doubt, IMO.

That said, I still don't think we have a prayer of getting him.

Vlad broke it up after 7 2/3 with a golf swing. No kidding..he hit it about 3 inches from the groud and the ball squeezed between SS and 3B...barely.

I have not weighed in against Sheets, but didn't Cowley pitch a perfect game for the Sox. Melido Perez threw a no hitter. Andy Hawkins lost in a no hitter against us.

I just want a 5th starter and I am open to a lot of possibilities.

that's a good point. a no hitter is certainly no measuring stick for how good a pitcher is or can be. shouldn't use one game as a reason to get sheets.
