Anybody know someone who was drafted today?

I covered Todd Blackford (Pick #401 to Atlanta) in High School in both baseball and basketball. He also might have played in this summer basketball league team we have around here.

Since there are 50 rounds with compensatory picks just wondering if anyone else knows someone who got drafted?
They may(for Blackford, probably) never make it but they all deserve some props.

This might be stretching it, but my sister's best friend's husband's nephew (no joke) is Chuck Lofgren, 4th round pick of the Indians. She actually saw one of his games a few weeks back and was quite impressed not only by his performance, but by the number of scouts in attendance (the conspicuous, radar-gun wielding pack sitting behind the backstop).

Next year! My nephew is a VERY hot high school prospect in IL for the Class of 2005. I may have to someday split my allegiance between the Sox and some other team should he make it to the show.

unfortunately hes a great pitcher, and a great guy.

There are two lesser prospects I know that might be drafted...

Brian McKenna, SS, Towson State University (Maryland)
and
Matt Montgomery, RHP, Don't remember what school he went to this year

Montgomery was selected in the late 20-something round by Montreal last year out of HS but opted for a JuCo I think. Any way for me to search someplace to see if either of them was selected?

He had Labrum surgery on his shoulder. We have seen what that does to a pitcher, and the long road back. It's a risk/reward pick for the Cubs.

Always good to see a fellow former LTHS grad getting picked though. Rarely see that in any sport, unless you are watching the Baywatch Draft and David Hasselhoff goes in the 1st round, LOL!

I know a guy from Bradley was picked. His name was Dan Puente and was our catcher this year. I remember last year I had a few classes with him and he was a pretty good guy. Grew up in the city, too, I think. He went to Gordon Tech, but I'm not sure about that. That's pretty much as far as I know.
