Default In depth piece: Giolito breakout?

This piece looks at the possibility that Giolito is ready to blossom. Enjoy.

Very nice. As painful as things have been, overall the season is promising in terms of what matters which is the performance/prospects of young players rather than the W-Ls(although the way they have lost has been basically demoralizing).

If GIolito maintains his last couple starts, Lopez can get back to what he was doing a couple starts ago, and Moncada/Anderson/Eloy maintain (even though Yoan and Tim are slumping in May so far), it will be a hugely successful season independent of record.

(But that said, hoping for some better pitching and Yoan/Tim to get back in gear which IMO can lead to .500.)

I hope this is right but I remember reading a similar piece at the end of spring training last year and then another one in the second half. So, I hope he's figured something out but I am going to need to see more evidence.

Itís amazing to behold the muscle memory of a professional athlete. That plot of changeup release points boggles the mind.

I love Gio, he is one of my favorite players, but I worry sometimes he gets himself into analysis paralysis

Just finished reading that.

He's on pace to have a borderline all star season if he stays healthy and goes 200+ IP and he's only 24. Everything I'm seeing indicates this isn't a mirage and he's ready to be a great #2 or solid #3.

That would be am amazing result given what we thought was a flameout only a short while ago. Rooting for it!

I'm hoping that he's figured it out. I hope it's not simply a matter of bum-slaying, as he's had his best outings against some terrible offenses.

I was sitting in the rain that last inning on Saturday. Giolito showed a lot of guts just throwing to get that game official. It's probably the first time since he's been in a White Sox uniform where I thought this guy is finally showing the makeup of a starter.

The stuff will probably always come and go with him, but the poise is what's important for him.
