Default Will there be a 2000 White Sox reunion next year?

Considering next year will be the 20th anniversary of the "Kids Can Play" team that won the division, will they be getting everyone back together at some point? In the past few years, we've seen the '05 and '93 teams have reunions, so there's definitely a possibility here.

Frank, Mark and Paulie obviously are key figures in Sox history, but you can't tell the story of our franchise without the likes El Caballo and Maggs, either. Even Jose Valentin, Herbert Perry, Chris Singleton, Mike Sirotka, Cal Eldred, James Baldwin and Keith Foulke have played a role. This also was the first Sox team I remember going to the playoffs, so let's get the "kids" back together for a day, or at least at SoxFest.

It would be a travesty to not have Herbert Perry there.

EL CABALLO! I still remember that grand salami to beat the cubbies. I was in a hotel room as a teenager listening on a stream online when that had just became a thing.

Knowing Sox marketing, they'd probably gather the 2000 players and have them wear 1983 throwback jerseys.

There have been enough missed opportunities with this kind of stuff to know the Sox aren't going to do this. I mean, if they weren't willing to do a tribute for the colorful '77 White Sox, they're not going to honor the 2000 team that got swept by the Mariners and are pretty forgotten already.

2000 is too close in time to 2005.

El Caballo was quite possibly my favorite Hawk nickname for any Sox player. I loved me some Carlos Lee.

That poor 2000 team didn't even get an on-field clinching celebration. If I remember correctly, they clinched the division by virtue of the 2nd place team in the division losing. The Sox weren't even on the field at the time. They had to come out of the visitors clubhouse in the depressing Metrodome to celebrate on the field in an empty park. ...that pretty much summed up how much attention that team got.

The Sox promotional department couldn't even be bothered to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Sox World Series title over the Giants in 2017.....and the Giants actually played at the Cell that year! What throwbacks did the Sox wear when the Giants were in town to play them? You guessed it....the 1983 throwbacks.

How can the Sox best honor the 2000 Division Champs on their 20th anniversary? How about a Sox division title in 2020?

Reinsdorf didn't own the team in 1964, 1967, 1972, or 1977. He can't take any credit for them, so he ignores them and beats 1983 to death instead. Since Reinsdorf has a personal involvement with the 2000 team, I think they will do something to honor them.

Default 1919

More importantly, will they do anything to honor the 1919 WHITE Sox.
Not such a reach anymore with Pete Rose acting as an ambassador.

They did do a Turn Back the Clock to 1964 Night in 1995, and the 1959 team has been honored many times, including June of 2005 when the Dodgers played in Chicago for the first time since that year. They wore 59 throwbacks on the night AJ hit his game-winning home run. And they were to wear 1976 throwbacks in 2016. Remember the whole fiasco with Chris Sale? Itís because he didnít want to wear those uniforms.

But hey, I get it. Jerry is evil and wants nothing more than to bury any year of team history that didnít involve him.

Don't forget, during the 2012 season, they wore the 1972 uniforms some games to honor the 40th anniversary. And personally, I thought it was beyond pointless to do it. Just like honoring the 77 team, or any other team that won exactly nothing. If I am going to give Cub fans flack for the love the 69 Cubs get, it's only fair I do the same for our fanbase.

I would, but I have love for those "also-ran" teams of 1972, 1977 and 1967 myself. So I don't give any lip (or ink) to Cub fans about 1969. I know how it feels to be attached to a team that won nothing.

Speaking of Lip, if you read his interview with Brooks Boyer, done about ten years ago, Boyer says the same thing-with respect to the players and some fans, those teams won nothing. I understand that point of view, even if I don't agree with it.

Well, with the history of our favorite team of not winning, I certainly understand the love for such teams. I loved the 1990 team, but I would never ask for a reunion. First, they didn't win anything. Second, those uniforms were horrible...

Hey TJ, don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.
