Not suprised it was time to move on from Avi. Opens up a spot for Eloy in the OF and hopefully there's a big FA signing on the way...

No surprise after the rest that has happened. Clearing the decks....for what exactly, we'll find out.

Itís too bad. The guy had so much potential but he couldnít stay healthy.

Sucks he couldn't stay healthy. Someone will give him a shot somewhere.

Still has potential. I understand the move but I don’t love it. I wish him the best. My wife won’t like the Davidson move, though she always liked him sans beard and he seemed to insist on growing it.

I will miss Avi and wish him good luck wherever he lands. The guy played hard. Not always well, but always hard.

Default Avi

Not sure how much the shoulder injury in 2014 derailed Avi's career, but it sure did not help. I was confident he would be a star, but not the case.

Unless they have a prospect (not any ofer from last years team), a FA or someone from a trade to fill a OF spot next year, its a cheapskate move. That does not include Jimenez, he's a given.

Updated the title of the thread. Looks like Davidson is definitely a non-tender also.

If this is to open up a spot to play Leury in the outfield every day, it's stupid.

It's also gonna be a bitter pill to swallow once Daniel Palka goes the way of Josh Fields, who also had a nice HR total his rookie year and never did anything remotely close ever again

I think this is about positional flexibility. L. Garcia has lots of it. A. Garcia was a fair-to-poor right fielder who's getting slower with injuries and age. Davidson was beaten out for all the playing time at third and wasn't exceptional at first.

I think the Sox plan to carry a lot of pitchers and upgrade some of the regular position players. The remaining spots will need to contribute defensively.

L. Garcia has no upside and no matter what some here think, Avi still does have a upside.
