Default Abreu wins Silver Slugger Award

Second time he's won it.

Here's the complete list:

This is sort of a mystery to me, I can't believe there weren't any first basemen in the American League better than Abreu in 2018. Besides that, congrats to Jose.

The article says it was a down year for 1B offensively but they may have taken into account the amount of time he missed and struggled with injuries also.

My son and I were thinking the same thing (that there weren't any 1B's with better stats), but a big congrats to Jose. He was on track for a fifth straight 25HR/100 RBI season until all those weird injuries hit him, so this is nice.

Here's hoping he can stay healthy and have a big 2019.

Not bad for a washed up underachieving useless player the Sox cannot unload.

Well to be fair it appeared to be a very down year for first baseman in the American League. Jose' numbers weren't exactly eye-popping.

I attended the All Star Game in Washington this wear, wearing a Sox cap and waving a big White Sox flag each time Abreu came up to bat. The fan sitting behind me said "wow, it's really a bad year for first basemen!" when Abreu came up to bat the first time. :(

Oh well, it beats having the 2nd best first baseman in a down year for first basemen.

I see where Jose' announced today he expects to resign with the Sox and be with the organization for "a long time." Also apparently he is going to start working with his personal Cuban hitting instructor this off season.
