Cubs just signed Drew Smyly to a two year deal. He'll miss the season after electing to have Tommy John.
Bryan Shaw signs with Rockies and Tommy Hunter signs with Phillies. Last edited by Lip Man 1; 12-12-2017 at 11:01 PM. |

Stanton gone. Ozuna gone. Rumor is Yelich is next.
Baseball business 2017 - catch the fever.

Ozuna is a real good consolation prize for the Cardinals. He's not Stanton, but he can easily give you ~40 home runs. They could make things interesting next year.
Sandy Alacantara might have some upside, but a lot depends on him harnessing that stuff. It is debatable if Sierra can hit well enough to start, or if Gallen is going to be anything more than a back end starter though. It is too early to judge, but on the surface, these returns really make Hahn look good.

Ozuna is a better baseball player than Stanton. Hopefully the Cards find a way to get Yelich.

Fundamentally: running the bases, defensively.

Defensively, Ozuna definitely better. Anything else is completely overshadowed by Stanton’s offensive dominance. That said, Ozuna is really really good if last year was for real, and there is no reason to think it’s not.

And if you think Stanton's last year is an outlier, then Ozuna's the guy you want going forward.

But EAton is a much more productive player than Ozuna, and was signed for 5 years, v. 2. Yellich would be a good comparison. |
