Default Christian Yelich

He wants to be traded, and I don't blame him. The Marlins are somewhat of a joke right now. And reportedly they're asking for top prospects in return.

They can demand a king's ransom. He's a 4-5 win CF who just turned 26 and is signed to a ridiculously favorable contract. His contract runs through 2021 with a team option in 2022.

If the White Sox were to go for him, they'd have to put Eloy Jiminez on the table plus a couple of other lower level valuable prospects. On one hand, I'd hate the idea of losing Jiminez. On the other hand, Eloy is not a sure thing an Yelich is- AND he'd be your center fielder for the next 5 seasons.

I'd pull the trigger on that trade. Would you?

Edit: The masses have spoken. The answer is a resounding "No"!

Absolutely not. I would trade Rutherford and a B/C prospect. Why give up arguably the best prospect in the game.

Gammons reported the Marlins are demanding Ronald Acuna for Yelich.

So yeah, you're giving up Eloy if you want him.

Given the state of the Sox and the fact that Yelich is not a superstar, I also pass.

No, I do not pull the trigger on this trade. And if Hahn does, I hope he gets fired.

Nothing Hahn does would surprise me. He should have been fired after his contract expired in 2017.

I love Yelich but Hard Pass

This is where I would use Rutherford and Depth at the SP position. Or maybe Avi-Rutherford-Fulmer or something.

Yelich, Machado, blah blah blah.

Sox fans need to relax. My goodness. The time to make moves for proven players will eventually come. We are just at the 12 month mark of this rebuild, relax.

Considering the FA class of next year, I have to think that 2019 will be the year to spend on proven veterans. Looking mostly at Machado here, with Donaldson as a consolation prize.

If the Sox wanted Yelich, they wouldn't have to give up Eloy. If the Braves want him, they won't have to give up Acuna. This is how trade negotiations go, you start by asking high and go from there.

I've been a pretty big proponent for going out and getting him, but the price has to be right. I'm only interested in dealing for him for the right package that makes sense for the Sox. His agent has kind of hurt the Marlins position of wanting to keep him only for a king's ransom by saying their relationship is broken. Let's see how it plays out and what ultimately it will take to get him.

Yeah, I think people are just bored and want to talk about something.

The White Sox should be looking to sell major leaguers for minor leaguers, not to buy major leaguers for minor leaguers.

Absolutely not. Eloy is about as sure a thing to become a superstar as any prospect ever is. And a star far surpassing Yelich.

Yelich is worth going after if the price is right but he is not worth, and the Sox are not currently in the position where they should be going after him at any price. Absolutely not.

I might offer a package of a couple second tier prospects for him but the Sox top tier prospects should be, and I am sure are, totally off limits.

Peter Gammons reported the Marlins wanted Atlanta's #1 pick (and one of the top five prospects in MLB) as a starting point in any Yelich deal.

Atlanta quickly ended the conversation.
