What a job by Rick. Traded anything and everything he could.

Getting anything for a 33 year old mediocre pitcher who is heading into FA is a job well done by Hahn

Agreed. He's pretty much traded everyone he planned on trading (barring Jones who got hurt), I think. I imagine they'll get a Cordell/Gillespie level prospect in return for Miguel. Gotta thank the man for pitching so well recently and making himself a trade target.

Edit: Sox get back IF Edward Ti'Quan Forbes. And y'all though nothing was going to top Tito Polo!

Not sure they did get anything. At one time he was highly thought of enough to be drafted in the second round but he's done absolutely NOTHING in the minors since 2014. Even though he's only 21 he's never posted an OPS above ..652 in A Ball.

Rangers #13 prospect in 2014

http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/mlb/pro...d=tex#list=tex

#21 prospect in 2015. Dropped off their list in 2016.

Quote:
Ti'Quan Forbes | Rank: 21 (Preseason: 20)
Team: Unassigned ETA: 2018
Position: 3B Age: 21 DOB: 08/26/1996
Bats: R Throws: R Height: 6' 3" Weight: 180 lb.
Drafted: 2014, 2nd (59) - TEX

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 45 | Run: 60 | Arm: 60 | Field: 50 | Overall: 45

As an extremely projectable athlete with raw offensive ability and a high ceiling, Forbes was a natural fit for the Rangers. They drafted him in the second round last June and signed him for $1.2 million. The Mississippi high school product struggled to adjust to the speed of the pro game in his debut, though that was expected.

Once Forbes gains strength and experience, Texas believes he'll hit for average and power. He has a quick bat, helping him overcome a hitch in his right-handed swing, and manipulates the bat head well. He has the patience to draw walks and the speed to steal a few bases.

Forbes has the quickness and arm strength for shortstop, but his hands and actions may not be suited for the middle infield. He played more at third base during his debut and almost exclusively there in his first full pro season. He could handle center field if he can't stay on the dirt.
Perhaps we'll get lucky and he'll blossom in the Sox system. Still only 21.

Sorry to see Miguel go but not surprised. Doesn't have great stuff but knows how to pitch. Wouldn't mind seeing him resigned after the season as we'll need at least one more veteran starter and I sure hope it isn't Derek Holland or Mike Pelfrey (who has been ok in the bullpen).

Forbes numbers are not inspiring

https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...medium=linker-

But, drafted out of high school, he actually turned 21 only 5 days ago. That makes him young for A ball let alone high A.

For trading a guy like Gonzalez, I'm okay with them gambling on a high-upside athlete like him. It's a lottery ticket, but it still has a nice payoff.

Yes. It's a totally risk-free move. Forbes won't need a 40-man spot until after the 2018 season ends.

Sox yard sale now closed. Gonzalez did a good job the past two seasons and I wish him well.

Former 2nd round pick, you keep grabbing enough of these not so far off top prospects who trailed off, maybe one or 2 hit and find it. Love the trade.

Sounds like a classic KW guy. Anyone know if he played football in high school?
