EDIT: Nope! I was wrong. You still get a complete game if you pitch every inning in a rain shortened game.

So the last rain delay lasted an hour until the game was called.

I thought that any stoppage after the middle or end of the 5th meant the game was over, provided someone was in the lead or led at the end of an inning (or half if home team) after the 5th. I think that should be the new rule.

Only 5 games back of Toronto in the W column

You just don't get a no-hitter or a perfect game if it's rain-shortened, courtesy Bud's historical revisionism squad.

Our best bullpen is the rain. Nice comeback.

Just got back from soggy US Cellular Field. The bottom of the 6th was a pretty fun inning because the rain really started picking up and everyone knew this was basically the de facto bottom of the 9th so the crowd was hanging on every pitch. The game was likely to get called shortly afterward. Flowers really picked up Beckham and De Aza with that 2 RBI base hit. It was a fun game despite all the rain.

Speaking of Flowers, he is hitting something like .400 since the glasses and is really barreling up the ball right now. It can't be that simple, can it? I'm not sure if I'm buying into it but it is certainly nice to see some actual production out of the catcher spot even if it is just a hot streak.

Side note for anyone who was wondering: Alex Rios received polite applause from the crowd in his first AB and I heard no boos whatsoever.

The rain is really a nice lockdown closer when you have the lead.

Mine is dry since I threw it in the plastic bag with the program. The outfields were almost flooded. Nice three-block walk to the car in the rain. At least the Sox won. And Flowers one hit short of the cycle. Who the hell is this guy and where has Flowers gone?

Long time passing?

Sorry for the bad Peter, Paul and Mary joke. He has looked much better since he started wearing the specs. Abreu continues to drive I runs. If Hahn can come up with any semblance of a bullpen, this team will be fun to watch in the future.

Good to see Hector get a W against his old team; he'll get another opportunity this weekend.
He's done an admirable job this season.

You never did. Before Bud Selig bought the Brewers there was a separate honorable mention list for the no-hitters where the pitcher didn't have to go nine. Even before I was born, you had to pitch nine innings to get credit for a no-hitter. News agencies started giving credit to pitchers in the 1980s and 1990s who didn't go nine, but they ignored the fact that baseball never gave Dean Chance credit for his five-inning rain-shortened perfect game in 1967.
