Not surprised that Cespedes was moved, too much of a free swinger for Billy Beane.

So far Billy Beane is 1-6 in the LCS.

Fuld goes to Oakland in Milone deal.

JIM BOWDEN ‏@JimBowdenESPNxm 1m
Twins do a great job in getting Milone for Fuld

1-6 in the playoffs, 0-1 in the ALCS.

All 5 ALDS losses were in 5 game series. That's incredible.

I see. They've only reached the ALCS once. Those figures were confusing to me.

Does anyone think the A's have enough gusto to sign Lester once the season ends? Seems to me like an example of throwing caution to the wind when you vacate the contract of a young, vital hitter in favor of a cup of coffee starter who only has five or six starts left in the season, plus the post season of course.

On @MLBNetwork, @pgammo said Beane told him that Fuld will play CF initially for #Athletics with Gentry still out.

He was tremendously popular in Oakland. He was the most popular player on this year's Oakland team.

I'm not surprised the A's traded him. When I go to Oakland to see the White Sox, most of the fans who wear jerseys have traded stars names on their backs.

Of all the things Beane has been quoted as saying, I wholeheartedly agree with this.

One source suggests Lackey to the cardinals appears close. But haven't confirmed.

Right now, the second most similar batter to Cespedes according to baseball reference is Viciedo. Would you really balk at trading one more year of Viciedo for a top of the line starter and a chance to win a WS?

Joining the confirmation trail... Yes, 1B/OF Allen Craig and RHP Joe Kelly for Lackey. Sox also sending minor leaguer

That A's trade is a bit crazy, but those contract stipulations making it likely that Cespedes would walk at the end of next season make it a bit more reasonable.

Is the entire league in collusion with Boston? How are they getting these returns for rentals? 2 MLB players for Lackey? Am I missing something here?

Red Sox are sending around $1.75M to the Cardinals. Final trade: John Lackey and ~$1.75M to St. Louis for Allen Craig and Joe Kelly.
