Nice to see De Aza getting into the action and nice to hit someone who we were supposed to get runs against. Slowly clawing back to .500.

I thought the wheels might come off when the Red Sox tied the game and still had two on with just one out. Danks pitched out of a lot of trouble, but the downside was that he was facing hitters for the third time in the fifth. A good outing for Belisario, who has looked better not closing, to keep the White Sox ahead.

After the Red Sox failed to break out on top with the bases loaded and one out in the first, the White Sox loaded the bases with none out and managed to plate two without hitting the ball out of the infield, helped out by a Red Sox error.

Tonight's star has to be Gillaspie, who helped set up the first three runs and broke the tie with a two-run homer. The three runs in the ninth helped with all the runs coming on three extra-base hits. The way things have been going this year, being up five in the ninth is a lot more relaxing than being up two. Being up five in the eighth remains stressful, but the pitching hasn't been so bad lately.

Hopefully Sale can keep that going Wednesday night so the White Sox can go for the sweep behind Quintana Thursday.

It's too bad the Tribune can't recycle the same headline three days in a row.

[Insert pitcher's name] sharp as White Sox blank [insert opposing team's name]

De Aza looks a lot better to me this year, despite his low average et al. Could make a nice upgrade on the bench/ fourth oF/some DH for next year.
what can you say about Flowers. At least he caught wood in one of his at bats.

Default Hanging in there

Still in the wildcard race -6(+/-.5) seems like we have been playing better since we went away from Bellasario as closer.

Keep up the good work White Sox.

If not for the pen, this team would be right there in the race.

Still not enough offense, but would be in it nonetheless.

Our pen needs work. But some of the guys are pitching better. Petricka and Guerra look like keepers. Putnam and Surkamp - perhaps. On a side note, Reed just blew another save, leaving a fastball in the middle of the plate with 2 outs, to surrender the lead to the Marlins.

It's a win and I'll take it, but this could have easily been a loss. The Red Sox had three shots to deep center over 400 feet that would have been home runs in pretty much any other park. We were fortunate to be playing in Fenway tonight.

Still throwing the low 90's fastball that doesn't move much. I think his best pitch is the slider. ERA over 4, doesn't walk a lot of people. Not someone any of us should pine for. But he does have 20 saves.

I watched the 9th. He was hitting fastballs all low outside right on the corner - looked great. He hung a slider to Stanton that he missed and then threw a FB right down the pipe for the dinger to Ozuna on I believe an 0-2 count. In between he walked someone. He kind of brought back memories of Bobby Howry.
