Abreu should check his contract for maybe an opt out clause.

We find ways to lose close ball games. That's not good.

Changes need to be made to the bullpen. If the LOOGY can't get out the one guy he's supposed to get out, he should go. Webb has a 1:1 SO/BB ratio, that won't work. He should go.

How many consecutive losses have we held the lead in at one point? At least 5 now, if not 6, right?

Dad gum it

On the bright side, at least we didn't run out of pitchers before losing in extra innings this time?

I got nothing.

Also, was that play at third not reviewable? That would have been a good time to use a challenge. Worst case scenario is you lose it (and who knows if there would have been a 13th inning) and the best case scenario is there's one out with a runner on first.

I was going to come here and bitch about the play with the third base coach. He clearly made contact. The look on his face...he knew he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar. But, all the said, does anyone honestly think Webb would have gotten out of that inning anyway? Wild pitch possibly still happens- runner goes to second. I'm sure another base hit was on its way.

Game was lost in the 8th inning.

If Webb had come in and given up a home run, I wouldn't have liked it, but I could have dealt with it.

What I can't deal with is walking a No. 9 hitter who is hitting .195. I also can't deal with losing the game on a wild pitch. That is minor-league ****, so Webb needs to go to Charlotte where he belongs.

I've been a supporter of his in the past, but I'm done with that. Getting beat is one thing, giving away games is quite another. Webb has given away two games on this trip.

Bring up Surkamp. If Robin insists on using a lefty reliever in high-leverage situations, it might as well be Surkamp instead of Downs.

This is about the 7th time this year we "gave it away."
That's what this team does.

The whole bullpen sucks. No one good is in the system. They all seem so ****ty, it's hard to figure out what's wrong with one pitcher.

I thank the Sox for at least making the season somewhat interesting until like June 20.

Actually, I thank the Tigers.

There may be a rule in the late innings that review calls are under discretion of the umps, but I don't have the rules memorized yet either. The entire thing is a work in progress. The Sox were destined to lose this one anyway.
