Throw Ramirez and even beckham in that bunch and we all know Gillaspie isnt going to stay where he is at. It was just a matter of time before this happened.

Lindstrom or Jones were the closers before they got hurt, this situation they are in wasnt planned.

Now can we start selling some assets? Other than Sale, Quintana, and Eaton of course!

Precisely. And they hoped Webb would step up this year, too, and that hasn't happened.

Let's not pretend they traded Reed with the idea of making Belisario closer. They are already on their fourth option for the ninth inning. Unfortunately, it's time to look for a fifth option.

Yeah but are those two guys even legit plans to compete going into a season?

And only asset that can bring maybe a decent return is Ramirez. Its going to be tough times ahead.

If Ambrose Bierce were alive today he'd define a relief pitcher as "A pitcher brought in the late innings of a baseball game to undo the work of the starting pitcher.

The Sox are too far back on the win curve to worry about a closer. They'll luck into someone within the next 2 years that can get the job done for at least a spell. It's just not a priority this year.

Why not try Putman as closer?

Dating back to Bobby Jenks, this feels like the 37th Sox walkoff loss in Baltimore over the past seven or eight years.
