So is this a product of rebuilding and bad rosters, or is he just a poor manager?

I am normally very strong in my support or distaste of managers, but I respect Ventura and am giving him time. I am beginning to wonder whether I should go to my old ways or let this team be.

Greatest Arsenal goal I have ever witnessed. Chills to this day watching it.

What's crazy is that for all the praise Hahn was getting for turning this ball club around so quickly, its the same steaming pile of **** outside of Abreu.

They got so lucky early with Viciedo, Flowers, and Dunn getting off to career starts in a Sox uniform. But they are all back to what they are.

I think we have reason to cheer. At least there was a walk (or two) involved in the 9th inning collapse. And the HBP really did not come into play, either, given the HR

So ... there's progress.

Since being named closer, Belisario has given up 11 runs in 13 appearances.

In the 12 outings prior to being named closer, he allowed just one unearned run total.

This is a mental thing. Perhaps he has the stuff to close, but he cannot handle the responsibility. He needs to be moved back to the 7th-8th inning role where he's more comfortable.

The question is, who the hell replaces him? Why not try Guerra? Throwing darts at this point.

It's pretty full, we're just waiting for Mike MacDougal.

There is a lot more talent than last year, yet Ventura can't stop the losing.

Bottom line, Ventura is losing too many games as manager of the Sox. Managers with his record half way through year 3 usually get fired.

Disagree.

The pitching staff is complete patchwork.

Other than Abreu and Eaton (who has been pretty average), where is this "lot more talent" you see?

I hate to tell you, but they aren't going to fire Ventura. LaRussa wouldn't be able to guide this bunch to a winning record. I'm sorry the team sucks.

VooDoo with a bout of rare humor, I like it. As soon as Belisario came out for the 9th, I said it was time to hand the game over. He has a weak hitter 0-2, then throws garbage right down the middle of the plate that gets hammered. After drilling Jones, he hangs a piece of crap pitching to their struggling power hitter? Throw any other pitch, I mean any other pitch than that one.

How many leads have we blown simply by walking bad hitters and making horrible pitch selections? I know we have nobody else, but Belisario sucks as a closer. Please try anyone else.

I whole heartedly agree.. the closer situation and bullpen was patchwork even when everyone was healthy.. Its looking like the organization is hoping the fans will overlook the serious holes in this roster because Hahn got lucky with Abreu..

When you look at the MLB payrolls, I still befuddled that the Sox are spending 90 M this year and put this product out on the field.. and leave the whole thing in the hands of guy who has no business closing

They should look past Reed's saves number. He has been nothing but average, at best.
