Default Lex Luger's "Lex Express" and the White Sox (1993 Comiskey Photos)

Mods, please forgive me if I put this in the wrong place. I was flipping through the pictures that detailed Lex Luger's "Lex Express" tour in July 1993, and found a few pictures from his visit to New Comiskey Park. Pictures are #41-46 in the queue. Is that a thinner, younger Kenny Williams with Lex in the first picture? Did any of you go over to the park for this? It was a couple of months after I left IIT, but I would have gone if I was there.

You gotta love the fanny pack that ol' Lex is featuring in every photo.

That doesn't look like KW to me but the next picture is Bo Jackson and of course that's Wimpy in the booth.

Yeah, I don't think it's KW either.

I'd love to hear that conversation/interview with Wimpy and Lex! Maybe I did and just don't recall it.

No, that's not Kenny. The pic after Bo is definitely Tim Raines w/his son.

Maybe he's one of the other team's announcers? Local sportscaster?

Totally. Fanny pack... awesome. Jeans...awesome. Shirt...awesome.
In some of the earlier pictures, before the Comiskey ones, he's wearing some awesome Zubaz!

Awesome thread. Great pics.

That doesn't look like Kenny to me, but picture #39 has Kevin Matthews from the LOOP in it. Pic #40 shows the Lex Express outside the park. Pic #49 looks like it was taken at the North Riverside (Park) Mall.

Luger was a big-time pro rassler in the 80s and early 90s. He turned good guy when he slammed Yokozuna on the deck of the USS Intrepid.

I was reading a discussion a couple of weeks ago coincidentally about whether or not Luger actually rode on the Lex Express. Luger was a prima donna, and there's a thought that he actually flew first class into most towns and didn't actually ride cross-country on the bus as WWF advertised. So the feel good end to the story is that they bought this bus for him, built him up like superman through the summer of '93 for a title shot in August, but he sort of flopped and never won the the title.

According to his book and other shoot interviews he's done Lex did indeed ride in that bus across the country. I remember following where he would be on WWF Superstars and Wrestling Challenge on Saturday and Sunday mornings and wanting to go to the Sox game he would be at soooo bad.

Maybe Lex should come back to the Southside this year. They won the division in 93 after his visit...

If you're a big fan of old-school 'rasslin, like I am, the "Kayfabe Memories" message board had a great discussion about this on their site.

One question about Kenny Williams: Wikipedia says that he was an analyst for White Sox games on SportsChannel Chicago. Was he ever shown on-air? I may have seen him on Sox games over the satellite dish, but I wouldn't have known who he was; just curious.

I was disappointed that he didn't win the title, but I enjoyed when he came to Comiskey. And yes, I noticed the fanny pack's appearances too.
