According to Rick Hahn, the surgeons tell them there is no greater risk for Avisail injuring his shoulder now versus 6 months from now. Therefore, why not have him get some valuable ABs this year? They seem to be taking it slow with him and easing him back into baseball activities. It is basically like Spring Training for him. I'm pretty sure the Sox wouldn't risk this kid's future if they thought there was any danger.

I agree the Sox wouldnt rush him back if he wasnt ready, he is too valuable for their future. Lindstrom is a different story , he is a FA after this year and is probably hounding the Sox to get him going so he can get a better pay day next year.

What a nightmare of a year this has been for Nate Jones. Now he's shelved for most of, if not all of, 2015 as well. I was really hoping he could give the bullpen a boost next year.

Default might need a short Minor League injury rehab assignment before returning

Zach Putnam
unleashed 20 fastballs in a bullpen session before Friday night's game.
He plans to add some cutters to Sunday's bullpen session, with his split-finger being the last pitch incorporated.
"With the way I feel physically, if I had to get in there tomorrow, I think I'd be OK," Putnam said. "It's just a matter now of fine-tuning, having not thrown for a week, trying to shake the rust off a little bit."

Avisail Garcia and Matt Lindstrom are scheduled to begin injury rehab assignments to Class AAA Charlotte

Avisail Garcia
2-for-4 with two singles in Friday's regularly-scheduled game and had three more singles in Saturday's victory. Started as the designated hitter and will work his way into the Knights' outfield.

Matt Lindstrom
"I felt pretty good. I was a little apprehensive with the mound being a little bit wet, but everything felt as close to normal as I think it's going to feel," Lindstrom told reporters in Charlotte after his effort. "I've put a lot of hard work in to try to get back to this point. I made most of my pitches. I was a little disappointed in some of my breaking stuff.
"But I think that had a little to do with the rain. Overall, it was a good test."

Garcia
left in the third inning of his injury rehabilitation contest for Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday after being hit by a pitch from Gwinnett's Kanekoa Texeira.
Bruised left triceps and is listed as day to day.

Lindstrom
is scheduled to throw every other day until he returns to the White Sox, which could be on this next road trip.

Avisail Garcia
X-rays taken of left arm were negative after he was hit by a pitch during a rehab assignment on Sunday

Zach Putman
should be available to come off the 15-day disabled list on Friday. "He's on track right now," Ventura said. "He's throwing tomorrow in Charlotte. He'll get an inning in there and see what he feels like."

Adam Eaton
Left the game with a bruised lower back. X-rays were negative.
Viciedo was trying to move him after the collision, but he told Viciedo to leave him alone because he couldn't even breathe.
The collision with the fence could cost him at least a day or two.

Avisail Garcia
Garcia has yet to play the outfield, but certainly figures to return in August.

Zach Putnam
Barring a setback, is expected to be activated from the disabled list and rejoin the team Friday in Seattle.
