Prior to tonight’s game at Minnesota, the Chicago White Sox placed right-handed pitcher Zach Putnam on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation

Colleen Kane ‏@ChiTribKane 1h

Zach Putnam said he'd felt some discomfort in his shoulder earlier, was hoping break would clear it up. But was uncomfortable pitching Wed.

Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 2h
Putnam's issue in middle of shoulder, around joint. Felt it couple last few outings, hoped rest over AS break would help.

Matt Lindstrom plan: Sim game in Detroit Tues, AAA rehab assignment, targeted return to White Sox in Seattle Aug. 7. 'I'm excited,' he said.

It would be great to have him back and available. Same with Garcia, although no need for him to rush back. If it turns out he's a quick healer, then great!

Too bad that Nate Jones is done for the year...Jones and Lindstrom would have given the bullpen a real boost when others are dead tired.

Good news on Garcia....want to see him knock off some rust in the last 35 games of the year.

Sox beat writers are saying Nate Jones has a UCL tear and had Tommy John Surgery already and is set to begin rehab immediately. Tough year for Nate.

Did I miss something or is this the first they've mentioned about this? Obviously he was on the shelf, but I don't remember hearing that it was this severe.

I would love to see Avi back in the lineup before the end of the year.

Apparently he tore it during rehab, that's just bad luck.

I saw the report pop up at MLBTR and I was completely surprised by it.

Avisail Garcia (shoulder) has been cleared to begin a rehab assignment Friday at Triple-A Charlotte.
That's super news.

I just hope they are not rushing this. I find it amazing that he has recovered from shoulder surgery this quick.

My thoughts exactly. This guy could be a big piece of the future, and rushing him back during a throw away season seems like it's tempting fate.

Well, he will just DH to start, so no risk of injury in the field.
