Default 2013 International Spending (Sox 18th..but not really)

2013 International Spending By Team

Quote:
The spending estimates do not include players who are exempt from the bonus pools, like Asian or Cuban players who are at least 23 years old and played at least three seasons in a foreign professional league, including White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu....

Considering we have the 3rd largest bonus pool, it should. I am however considered that the usual suspects will be cheating as usual, spending way over their cap limits.

I mean who cares, they get it, trade for more space, its basically trading for another prospect.

I never got the complaint of teams who spent big on prospects. Its just money out of JR's pocketbook. Not their fault he's a cheap SOB.

If that's what he's talking about, it's not cheating as Intl amateur slots are trade-able according to the rules.

No, I'm not talking about the cap trades. There are all sorts of stories being leaked about teams planning to go way over their limits in 2014. That's cheating, there's a reason they are fined for doing it. It's the same crap that teams did in the draft before they established a hard cap.

And get penalized for future use? I thought if they did that to a certain extent, then the next season they were limited to $500k signings, on a sliding scale basis depending how much they spent over that cap.

Is the punishment that severe? I thought the fines were almost the same as the luxury tax. Guess I have some research to do...

I'm just going by the rules on OOTP, but I'm guessing it's accurate per the CBA.

Here's a Baseball America article describing the rules:
