Seriously, if TV can have an accurate strike zone shown on the right of the screen for every pitch, why do we need a guy calling balls and strikes?

I get the sentiment, but Yankees/Red Sox games would take 12 hours.

I agree. I've wanted this for years. Electronics have no agenda, unlike umpires.

So we get needless stoppages because of crybabies

Yes, officials make mistake, but no game in any team sport was ever decided by an officials mistake. The officials became scapegoats for the losing team's mistakes.

This is a pretty good article that says the machines are right about 90% of the time already with the problem being they sometimes miss a pitch completely and that there is still some interpretation in regards to the top and bottom of the strike zone.

I like the idea of a hybrid solution where the umpire has a red or green light indicator in the mask to signal ball or strike.

No team game has ever been played perfectly. Players will always make mistakes, it's human nature. All you can do is limit yours and capitalize on theirs. Asking a team to overcome a 3rd party's mistakes is unsporting. If you have the technology to make the results more accurate to the play on the field and it doesn't put too much drag on the time, use it. The end.
