I'm not sure how I feel about that. Only 3,000 hit guy not in the hall (besides Rose, assuming Biggio gets in next year) and a great consistent hitter for two decades. The writers never liked the guy and his getting popped for steroids gave them an excuse to put him on the **** list, not to mention a ton of incredible talent in his era at 1B.

But, dropping off the ballot early may work to his advantage - he can lay low for years until the PED storm subsides and see if the Veterans Committee picks him up.

There must be some sort of procedural thing, I guess, all of their percentages are a bit off...
Pretty sure there were 571 ballots. I've seen it on numerous sites. The Hall's web page has been atrocious today.

edit: The Hall's news page on the election says there were 571 ballots.

Mike Mussina was a better pitcher than Tom Glavine in pretty much every way. Better ERA, more K's per year, fewer BBs per year, and a WAY lower WHIP, all in a tougher league.

Glavine won 300+ games, 2 Cy's, was in the playoffs forever.

Mussina belongs, but fighting the Mussina vs Glavine fight is pointless.

Irrelevant.

So are wins, but it is what it is.

Mussina will get in someday, but Glavine is an easier person to put in right now.

I'm not fighting. Glavine got in because of the teams he was on. Mussina was absolutely better at what he did. The numbers don't lie.

Chuck Garfien @ChuckGarfien
A relieved Frank Thomas after learning he's a Hall of a Famer.

Here's another shot of Frank Thomas moments after getting the news. He said "I'm going to Cooperstown!"

Glavine was always a lock, but I don't think he would've gotten 90% of the vote if it weren't for the Maddux connection this year.

I know Biggio will get in eventually, but it must be incredibly annoying to him to have missed out by a mere 2/10ths of a percent.

1 more vote would have put him at 74.96%, not sure if they would have rounded that up or not. 2 would have put him at 75.13% and in.

I would be a bit pissed about that, especially given the illogical and capricious voting habits of some of these voters.

They don't round up. He needed two more.

One guy who really got the shaft from the voters is Fautino De Los Santos.

The guy belongs in. 3060 hits, .281 lifetime average, 20 years with the same team playing 3 different positions. Only 9 HR short of 3000 hits-300 HR-300 SB (only Willie Mays has ever done that).

The reason why he didn't get in, honestly, is fairly disgusting:
