It works well for Detroit because it makes the pieces fit better. But you could say the same thing if Detroit had traded him for any good fielding second baseman.

I don't think they got equal value, but they were top-heavy so it will probably work out for them. In Lee for Pods and a middle reliever, we didn't get fair value, but it made our team fit together better ...obviously....and relieved some payroll.

Was Garcia pulling a Dave Martinez or Palmeiro?

I dont know if this is a sandberg situation but as has been mentioned, the source may not be that reliable.

You also have to factor in the money they've saved.

You'd have to think that most, if not all of that money is going to go towards locking up Scherzer, and idea about which I am very skeptical. Scherzer is a very good pitcher, but I don't think he's worth close to the $130-odd million that he's going to get. There are multiple signs indicating that 2013 was very likely an outlier year. This is a guy that hardly hit 200 innings in a year where he was damn near untouchable. I would be fairly surprised if he ever put up those kind of numbers again.

First, who gives a **** who is sleeping with who? Is this TMZ? Second, this move isn't about Ian Kinsler. It's about "shedding" Fielder's salary and freeing up the rest of the team to play positions they're more suited for. This was an impressive move for the Tigers and I hate it.

Yeah, the worst thing about it is that it's a worst case scenario for the Sox; the Tigers are harmed short-term while Prince is still a good bat but the Sox aren't good enough to compete let alone challenge for the division and then by the time they are good enough, the Tigers already got rid of him before his big, fatso making $25 million a season phase.

Default Freese for Bourjos

The Angels today acquired INF David Freese and RHP Fernando Salas from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for OF Peter Bourjos and OF Randal Grichuk.

I would have liked Bourjos in a White Sox Uniform!

Thats going to be the ongoing problem with the Sox , you have to give to get, and they dont have anything to give.

Either Santiago or Quintana should be available to help fill the voids we have in the field.

Quintana is too much to give in return for Bourjos, IMO.

Santiago is too little.

And giving Quintana opens a gaping hole in the pitching staff, you are right Santiago isnt enough. Its going to be tough sledding ahead.

Damn, that is a nice haul for Bourjos, though, guy's got very little bat and almost never touched the field in LAA. Definitely more than I ever thought he'd be worth or what the Sox could have offered. Dude's an everyday 3B whose hit .283/.355/.430 the past 3 seasons.

Great move by Los Angeles, bad move by the Cardinals

EDIT - I guess Freese is a little older than I thought he was (30), though Bourjos will be 27 by Opening Day.
