Marlins just signed Saltalamacchia 3 year / 21 mil. Looks like unless Hahn has a trade up his sleeve it might be another year of Flowers / Phegley behind the plate.

Not a fan of Salty, as I'd like to see the Sox aquire a catcher who is good defensively over anything else.

I know they can't say these guys suck but they are cheap so we are keeping them, but spare me anything that has to do with Phegley and Flowers reaching their upside. It's insulting to hear that unless it's true, then it's frightening.

If they're our 1-2 catcher tandem, though, come Opening Day, I am going to be seriously depressed
I have been begging for a good catching prospect for years. Unfortunately, Phegley and Flowers as our options barring trade/FA is the result of us ignoring that. I'm fine if one is a back-up and the other at AAA (preferably Phegley as he may have a little bit more potential to tap), but we are sacrificing a lot at this position.

Why would the Sox bring back a catcher who has trouble catching, much less give him nearly $1 million?

I'm not a fan either, but I'm less of a fan of what we have right now.

I agree. I was hoping at least that Lobaton deal goes down. He's decent, no?

Hopefully to start about 30 games or less.

A couple of minors moves has the 40-man roster down to 37. Might the Sox be active in the upcoming Rule V draft?
