Default Will This Team Lose 100 Games?

Let's assume that they hang onto tonight's 7-0 lead vs. the Twinkies, advancing their record to 59 - 91, a brisk 0.393 winning percentage. With 150 games down and 12 to go, will these guys go 4 - 8 (or better) and avoid the dubious distinction?

Going by the winning percentage, one might expect them to win 5 more games, but between their loss streakiness as of late ( win 1, lose 6, etc) and a quick check of the upcoming opponents (Tigers, Indians, Royals, and one make-up game vs the Blue Jays) I am hard-pressed to see four more wins.

So, when will it happen? When will #100 appear in the Loss column? Pick a date! Since I came up with this mirthful exercise, I will go first: Saturday, September 28 will be the date of doom.

Your guess, or do you these guys will avoid the century mark?

65-97

They'll handle the Twins, and once the Royals are eliminated, they'll deflate the last series of the season.

This would be a very good pick wager at this point. If I had to bet Ill agree with you and say they get 100 on the saturday before the season burial.

63-99, they just avoid the century mark.

Favorable matchups at home against the Twins and two more Sale starts should be good for 4 wins

Earlier, this was my prediction, but I'll go one better and say 64-98.

It would be rather fitting if this year's team ended with the opposite record of the 2005 team.

The Sox have now matched the '76 team's loss total with 3 games left to go.

All the White Sox have to do is win one more game to avoid 100 losses. Can they do it? The suspense is killing me!

I want them to lose 100- I want KW, JR, Adam Dunn, Ventura and everyone else to face the reality to what a mess this franchise is in.

I don't blame Hahn at this point- but the rest of them- I want them to forever be linked to a team that was equal to the 1970 mess.

.
I'm sure they are all getting a cold hard slap of reality as we speak.. The real question is whether or not the brain trust has the ability to turn it round.. those that ran the ship aground are now taking over the wheel in an attempt to right it.

Hahn's major off-season free agent signings were Jeff Keppinger, DeWayne Wise and Matt Lindstrom! I like what's he's done to add payroll flexibility so far, but Hahn needs to step up his game too.

He's been pretty consistent in stating that he intends to focus spending on draft and international. I'm ok with that, but it doesn't sound like the strategy for an immediate turnaround.
