Default *Official* The Kids Can Hit 9/23 postgamer

Semien and Garcia the Greater with homers and the pen manages to keep it together.

One more win to avoid the dreaded 100-loss mark.

Default *Official* 9-23 One more to go Postgame thread

To save face and avoid 100 losses.
Jose has been using his secondary stuff a lot more recently, but it has been keeping hitters off balance. His fastball is still his bread and butter. Two home runs were enough today.
Semien looks like he deserves a regular spot in the lineup for next year. He had a very fast swing on that home run.

Reed will be back to close next year, says I. He's lost the release point on his pitches, esp. the slider. They'll fix him. He hasn't been irreparably damaged by being asked to pitch. His velocity and movement seem to be right there.

Good game. Young guys to give us hope (delude us?). Rios hit for the cycle tonight. Water over the dam.

Semien is looking good, if his D holds up. Garcia's been excellent since called up. I'd like to see more walks out of each of them, though.
What we need is a CF for next year - badly.

...and a left fielder and a first basemen and a DH and a bench and some relievers and a new owner.

For some reason I really love September baseball- even when the Sox are out of it like this year-

Last night was a "glass half full" night- with our kids showing some promise- if Semian could be a viable 3rd base option for next year- and prayers are answered with Dunn retiring- then Hahn could invest in a 1st baseman and a CF/lead off man from the free agency.

I would love for the Sox to put a serious dent in Cleveland's playoff chances.

Please avoid the century mark in the loss column.

You're going to win 60 and lose 100. It's what you do with those other 2 games that count.

"The Kids Can Hit" huh? Wonder if this will give the Sox any ideas for next year's slogan.

Another nice win last night. Marcus and Avi both went yard and Avi has that opposite field power which I really like. Great pitching performance from Jose too. I'm hoping the Sox can finish strong.

I hope the Sox can make them real nervous, and then kill the waning hopes of the Royals.....spoiling is all we got now.

Semien is a nice looking athlete who is a real baseball player....good to see.

Tank and Avi Garcia are both hitting over .360 the last 30+ games....makes next year look brighter.

Jose was really sharp last nite....he is finishing strong after fading last year late as he transitioned to full time starter. Love this kid...he can be a solid #2 after Sale.

We're five games back of the Marlins for the second pick with 6 to play.

Probably not going to happen, so let's spoil Cleveland's chances.

Yes, all of that and a shortstop (unless we go with Garcia the younger). But a CF will help to stabilize this team.

After a long, busy day at work, this made me laugh out loud. I thank you.

As for the Sox, the more I see of Marcus Semien, the more I like him. I could be happy with him starting somewhere in the Sox infield in 2014.
