Default Hawk Superlatives Compilation

This article could have also been entitled, "Let me tell ya somethin', Stone Pony."

You just know Hawk is going to win the Frick award this year. The MLB special, the national attention, the stars are aligning...

I think he missed one towards the end of the year. Larry Parrish: Best Batting Practice/Home Run Derby right-handed power hitter. Hawk claims he parked two on the Old Comiskey Park roof, to the right of the flagpole near the scoreboard.

I should have created a blog based on this years ago when I first thought of it, but it would have meant watching a lot of horrible horrible baseball just to keep up with it. I loved this article.

One of favorites over the past thirty years was this statement.

He'd hit 20-25 home runs if he had a chance to play everyday.

He was referring to Graig Grebeck.

Hawk's been very consistent on some of the superlatives referenced in the article. Steve Dalkowski and Sam McDowell immeditely come to mind.

Best hitter at keeping homeruns fair down the right field line: Don Mattingly.

For all of Hawk's ridiculousness, I do have to say that some of his choices in this list are probably correct and pretty difficult to disagree with. (The Mariano Rivera one comes to mind.)

I'm still trying to remember who it was on KC in the mid 2000s who he was the best there ever was at hitting high foul popups.

"Best looking 19-year-old position player the White Sox have ever had: Ryan Sweeney."

Indeed. I mean he hit .273 with 7 homers at Winston-Salem when he was 19. Not many guys do things like that.

Well to be fair, not many today! But back then, the farm was GOOD!
