The Bucs look like the third best team in this three team race to the finish right now after the disastrous weekend in St. Louis. Its a very common type of slump, initiated by abysmal starting or relief pitching. In their case, they have no starter on that staff they seem to be able to turn to right now to get going again. They're having trouble just getting a few innings out of these guys.
And now they gotta go to Texas. Gulp...

Oh god please, fans don't "earn" anything, it's all a matter of luck (or in the case of many Steeler fans, just being a bandwagon frontrunner).

If I was stuck on a desert island with a Cub fan and a Steeler fan and had a gun with two bullets, I'd shoot the Steeler fan twice. And probably pistol whip him a little bit for good measure.

By virtue of a 2-1 win over the Cubs tonight, the Pirates have clinched at the very least an NL Wild Card berth and round out the NL playoff field. Pittsburgh and Cincinnati both trail the Cardinals by 2 games and all that's left is to see which of these three win the division and which 2 will meet in the NL Wild Card Game. But another 21-year drought ends.

I'm a full-on Pirates fan for the rest of the year. I think it's a great story. Plus, that ballpark deserves playoff games

With the Cardinals finishing up with the Cubs and the Pirates and Reds playing each other in Cincinnati, it's hard to see how St. Louis blows this (but, stranger things have happened).

How fitting that the Pirates clinched their post-season spot with a play at the plate. Take that Sid Bream!

Way to go, Bucs. You've given all underdog rooters someone to pull for this postseason.

The Pirates advance to the NLDS to face the Cardinals.

When I see Pittsburgh I think of the blind squirrel that will eventually find a buried acorn.

Even up heading back to Pittsburgh.

Actually thinks it hurts the Cardinals (as well as the Red Sux) being the top seed and having to see a division opponent in the divisional round.
