Put Mauer away with a hellacious slider at the knees to end it. Wins are good even in a season like this.

30 saves for Reed plus 5 wins. And we've won 48 games? Pretty awesome season. In fact pretty awesome 2 seasons for him.

Farmer and DJ had a really good discussion in the 9th of how solid of a pick Gordon Beckham has been for the Sox. They brought up how there are so many top draft picks who never even make it to the bigs and that Beckham has been here basically since he got drafted and been contributing. And still has a ton of baseball left. People wanted him to be a savior and to be perfect but in reality he has been an extremely solid player for us. They were talking about this since we will obviously have a pretty good slot in next years draft

So this is what scoring runs is like. They really need to sign someone to handle the 8th inning next year. It was encouraging to see Tank and De Aza hit the home runs.

Tell it to Mariano Rivera. Overrated or not, someone has to do the job. I really don't get the Reed hate. He's the best guy in the pen and he comes cheap as dirt.

I have no idea how in the hell you would think the save stat is overrated because Reed has 30 of them this year and had 20 some last year (when he didn't even start the year as closer) I guess people don't think he has good enough stuff to be a closer or something but he just keeps getting the job done.

Absolutely correct in my opinion WLL.

I don't understand the Reed hate. He is cheap. He strikes out one an inning. He doesn't walk many. The batting average and OPS against him is lower than it is against Chris Sale, yet a lot of White Sox fans, not just this board, are down on him.

Tampa Bay went from tied for first to 4 out last weekend when their closer hit a rough stretch. Closers are really appreciated when you are in a pennant race.

And apparently everyone but Robin Ventura and Leyland (who is trying to win a division) has heard of it now.
Mattingly pulled Kershaw after 100 pitches yesterday...Mattingly could do with some counsel from Ventura.

It's because his stuff doesn't wow you. IMO his stuff doesn't look great on TV, but it does to a batter. I don't think people realize how much movement his fastball has. Also, he's added that change, which isn't sexy, but I think it's his best pitch.

In my book, Crede has 2 less home runs than his statistics show, 4 less RBI, and one less walk (the one where he pinch hit for Uribe after coming in with a 3-0 count and taking one pitch).
