Between his fascination with Santo and dumping on Stone/Dunn, he's right on the verge of being the first person I've ignored on any message board.

I think that the Sox will activate Andre Rienzo and start him tonight in Cleveland so that the Sox can continue negotiating a possible Jake Peavy deal up to the trade deadline on Wednesday without Peavy pitching on Tuesday night.

I think he is overpaid. He is the 15th highest paid pitcher in the majors and the 31st highest player. Looking at the pitchers making similair money, they all still average about 175-200 IP per season. Peavy averages these days about 100-125.
Now when he is healthy, I think he is comparable in talent. But he makes 8-10 less starts than those guys. Since that contract is fairly new, I think it should have been less base and more incentives based on innings.

Nobody gives out contracts with the assumption that the player will be hurt. Peavy would have received a better deal had he gone in the open market.

Wow, that would be some kind of blockbuster deal, particularly in this day and age. It would also raise the possibility of moving Beckham to SS with Wong going to 2B.

Can somebody explain why they think Beckham can play SS? He's already got limited range at second and his arm doesn't really translate.

I think Beckham will be traded in the off season probably to the Jays for more top prospects.

I'd like to see Semien get a shot at SS.

Why would the rebuilding Cubs want Peavy and that financial obligation?

The notion out there than the Sox only want to move Rios and Peavy to dump salary irks me.

These are two good players earning their salaries. Just cause the Sox are in desperate need of quality minor league help, doesn't mean that this is a salary dump by any means.

Which is why we should wait unless Hahn gets the return he wants. If other teams are balking on salary remaining, then wait until the financial burden is less.

Semien looks pretty good at short this season. Why isn't he in AAA yet?

There's no better time that the rest of this season to find out if he can.
