And just what is the package the A's are offering?

The longer this goes, the happier I am. Wait 'em out, Hahn. Sell high or hold. If they won't meet your price, then **** 'em.

If the motivation was just to dump salary, the trigger would have been pulled already.

And if we don't move him, he shouldn't make that start.

ALEX RIOS. Teams in touch with the White Sox report they've asked for two top prospects, plus a "lesser" player, for Rios, without much luck. So at this point, it wouldn't be a shock to see the White Sox pull Rios back and put him on the market again this winter.
That's crazy. Hopefully it's just a case of bidding high and settling for something lower. I'd like to see him gone. He's a had a slump, but I think he's still around 13th on Fangraphs leaderboard among RFs in wOBA.

Why risk the possibility of an even steeper statistical decline by holding onto him until winter. Seems like an unnecessary gamble.

Straily and Grey or Russell. Its probably not all 3 but at least 2 I would guess for the $24 Mil they are asking from the Sox.

At this point, I just want something that will improve this team to happen. However, I like that Hahn is not willing to get fleeced by some other team for the sake of making something happen. As his first year as GM, it's good he is not caving in, but come on make something happen!

Story indicates they will not trade them and that they also want the money.

I don't have a problem with the idea that the Sox should pay a bit of Peavy's salary so as to bring back top prospects. But if Oakland isn't willing to part with them unless the Sox pay the whole thing (or unwilling to do so even with the Sox paying the whole thing), I'm sure there are other interested teams.

I love it too. Let these GMs who are in tight pennant races get panicky with the deadline approaching. I'm really hoping the Biogenesis suspensions go down before July 31 to increase Hahn's playing field and leverage.

I also wonder if Rios' struggles the last few weeks have soured him for many teams. Perhaps Texas doesn't want Rios, but is interested in De Aza, or an OFer from another team.

If I had watched Rios this past homestand and was scouting for a contender, no way would I be touching him now. He's exactly the kind of player that will cost you games with his lack of hustle.

Yeah, I think all the scouts figured out what we know. We might have to trade him for pennies on the dollar next season, or bite the bullet and wait for his buyout.
