Garza confirmed reports that his representatives have spoken with the team about a contract extension.
The Rangers had 2 scouts at Mondays Crosstown Classic. Indians, Pirates, Blue Jays and the Pardres each had 1 scout. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/c...dodgers-070813 |

Signing talk to increase leverage. He's getting traded. How sure am I? Not sure enough to do something foolish.
He's be a good acquisition for a contender, too. Even if his last outing was against a patsy.

Garza likely to be dealt. Rangers and Indians are the favorites

A source described the Rangers on Thursday as the “most motivated” bidder for Garza.

Ugh. If that's true, that takes away the most likely bidder with the best prospects for Sale/Peavy.

Still plenty of talent out there to be had from the buyers. I like Texas too, but they are not moving Profar or Perez, so Sale is not moving.

They've been saying how close they are for 10 days. Last week it was 80% chance he'll be gone during the all star break.
No one will give Sale's value, so that's not an issue. While dealing Garza takes away a potential Peavy suitor, it also reduces the supply of starters. Patience. And, of course, Saturday is the most important start a Sox pitcher has had since last September. |

I mean of the buyers. There isn't a likely buyer out there with as much prospect depth as Texas. Teams with prospect depth are more likely to deal higher end prospects. There are better teams, like the Twins and Cubs, but they're not buying.

Red Sox are loaded with prospects. They have 5 left side highly rated young players--- 2-SS and 3-3B . Now that Buchholz is injured and may be out for awhile, the Red Sox probably will be buyers of a starter.

Personally, I like the Red Sox and D'backs prospects better than the Rangers.
